Colour trends for 2023

Colour trends for 2023

It’s that time of year when lists for 2023 keep popping up on your feeds.  But for me it's that time of year when I start planning my next collection and I start looking at colour palettes to work with. So what colour trends are predicted for 2023?

Design experts forecast colour trends marked by earthy tones and rich contrasts: alongside soft pastel hues, shades of blue, which dominate 2023 predictions. Shades of green, which have been so strong over recent years, have disappeared from lists for the time being.

Earthy tones

Swedish based trend specialist, NCS Colour, predicts earthy tones and natural materials which bring with it a sense of peace into modern homes. with splashes of red to add vigor.  They call it “cocooning” ourselves in earthy tones as a way of protecting ourselves as we transition back to the new normal.

We see this as a continuation of the much loved scandi-style colour palette which is so easy to live in - but we like the idea of a splash of red - we’ve been eyeing Farrow and Ball’s new Bamboozle which is a gorgeous earthy red.earth tones interior

Lavender cream

Trendbook’s colour of the year is Lavender cream, also called digital lavender. They say “An already very loved hue, used from fashion to interior design, it’s coming back as the star color of 2023. Representing wellness and digital escapism, something we are very familiar with by now.”

Not something I was immediately attracted to but in the interior below, matched with neutrals and natural materials such as wood I think it has a calming feel to it.  You may see it appear in our designs.

Shades of blue

Move over green there’s a new kid in town, blue.  We’re particularly loving Trendbooks prediction for Wellness blue - taking inspiration from the elements of water and air. Its cool and calming hues are meant to improve our mental well-being.

Good for bathrooms, reminiscent of lux spa retreats but their paler grey/blue living room interior below has got us thinking up some complementary prints, it’s divine darling!
